So, so dark.

Power Pole Photography

See what I did there? It's an alliteration!

A few months back, I decided to take a stroll and found myself walking along power lines. Eventually, I reached a river and could no longer advance any further. On this walk, with my dingy phone camera, I took a picture to remember the moment.

Eerie! Look at all those artifacts the render left behind.

Yesterday, I had the itch to go take some pictures. I’d wanted to return to this spot for a while, but since there was a new moon I thought it’d be too dark to get anything at all. After running (or rather stumbling with trepidation) out into the field with my phone poking out of my coat pocket just enough for the flashlight to illuminate my surroundings, I set up my tripod and tried put down my camera.

Those two yellow lines in the background were the reflective strips. You’ll see them more clearly in future pictures.

I don’t like any of these shots, but I’ll still upload them as a proof of concept. This first shot really bothers me—I wish the power lines in the middle were centered!

At least it’s not pitch black!

This next shot is a little closer to what I had in my head, but I had to butcher my histogram in Lightroom before the contrast was high enough to differentiate anything here.

Interestingly, you couldn’t see those stars in real life

I find this next photo intriguing because of the leading lines towards the bottom of the frame. Power lines turn out to be amazing leading lines too.

To Infinity and Beyond!

Anyways, a relatively short blog this evening, but I hope you found it entertaining.
